I guess this tendency is from the notion of Buddhism "all things are in a state of flux". Cherry blossom is a typical example of the transient beauty. Now, the temperature is getting warmer in Japan, so we are expecting for cherry blossoms to bloom! Although the period that cherry blossoms are in full bloom are very short, a week or so, we enjoy not only seeing they are in full bloom but also the patals are falling from the trees. It reminds us of our transient lives and the importance of living now as hard as possible. I know you British people love flowers in a different way. I've heard of Graham Greene as the original author of the famous movie "The Third Man". However, I haven't read his novel. I even didn't know the name of the other authors. I searched their works on the Internet, and I got interested in Ian McEwan especially. I would like to read his novel in Amazon Kindle. I love Kindle because it has a dictionary function.
