Announcements
Hi everyone, I hope you all are keeping well. I will be temporarily unavailable for family reasons later this week, but be back next week and hope to hear from you then. I always enjoy you sharing your thoughts with me. Have a great positive time and stay happy and healthy. Best regards Joyce.
Hobbies/Travel
I have many hobbies, including caring for my cats and dogs, gardening, fishing and bush walking. I presently live in the far South East of South Australia in a National Park area among the kangaroos and koalas, also near the beach, where I go whale watching. I have lived in Scotland, England and Australia. I love traveling and have also been to several overseas places, including Malaysia and New Zealand. I have stayed in most Australian states and visited, the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns, Townsville, Magnetic Island, The Great Ocean Road, Sydney and Coffs Harbour, Melbourne and Adelaide. My favorite country would be Scotland, because I was born there and belong to the clan Gunn. My ancestors include the vikings and Olaf the Black especially.
Message from the instructor
I do three things when I correct a customer's text:- Firstly, I let the writer know exactly which aspects of the text were well written. Giving recognition for good skills will give the writer encouragement to keep doing the right things with their writing. Secondly, I give quality and accurate correction with clear explanations, so the writer can see what may need to be changed and why it will be more naturally English to make the changes. Thirdly, I provide the writer with examples and ideas to improve their writing in a kind and gentle manner, so they will not have hurt feelings or become discouraged in their writing, but rather be uplifted and keen to improve and grow in their understanding and knowledge of the English language. This means both simple natural alternatives and complex expressions with idiomatic sayings can be requested. Every writer is very special to me, and every piece of writing will be treated with the respect and accurate care it deserves to have. I have been helping many students, both young people still in schools as a teacher and more mature adult students at the university for over 40 years. My knowledge of accuracy in business letters and correspondence is excellent, as I have also worked in accounting for manufacturing businesses with a strong customer focus. I believe in building trust and respect between us, so I can help you to reach your full potential and achieve your best.

Dear Joyce, Thank you for your comments. The detailed information regarding “I have just…” is helpful for me. It is getting more frozen here in Japan every day, so I’ll be careful not to catch a cold. I hope you in good health, too. Best regards, Shota

Hello Joyce, Thank you so much for correct my sentences and advise alternative expression. Especially, your given alternative expression helps me increase my English vocabularies and phrases. For me, countable/uncountable expression for noun is very difficult to understand. I'm wondering how to master this but I hope writing many times become good effective to me. Best Regards, Rie

Hello Joyce, Thank you for the corrections and alternative expressions. I learned other expressions "may feel guilty" and "tend to feel uncomfortable time" when expressing someone's feeling. I also learned "the ban in xxxxx" instead of "the ban to ....." Thank you!

Hello, Joyce. It's always nice to see you again here. Thank you for the corrections you made on my essay. Your nice message makes me very very happy. For the 2nd sentence, I omit some phrases. I wanted to know if the sentence still makes sense without them. I love every single sentence in your essay! There are many impressive expressions. It's just WOW! I wish i could write like you...... Thank you a lot for writing it to me. Christmas is just around the corner. I put 4 gifts under a Christmas tree. One of them is a Lego block for my 2 year old grand daughter. I will bake chicken and a cake on the 24th to cerebrate with my family. I hope to see you soon again, but if not, "simply having a wonderful Christmas time." Yoko
