Announcements
Hi everyone, I hope you all are keeping well. I will be temporarily unavailable for family reasons later this week, but be back next week and hope to hear from you then. I always enjoy you sharing your thoughts with me. Have a great positive time and stay happy and healthy. Best regards Joyce.
Hobbies/Travel
I have many hobbies, including caring for my cats and dogs, gardening, fishing and bush walking. I presently live in the far South East of South Australia in a National Park area among the kangaroos and koalas, also near the beach, where I go whale watching. I have lived in Scotland, England and Australia. I love traveling and have also been to several overseas places, including Malaysia and New Zealand. I have stayed in most Australian states and visited, the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns, Townsville, Magnetic Island, The Great Ocean Road, Sydney and Coffs Harbour, Melbourne and Adelaide. My favorite country would be Scotland, because I was born there and belong to the clan Gunn. My ancestors include the vikings and Olaf the Black especially.
Message from the instructor
I do three things when I correct a customer's text:- Firstly, I let the writer know exactly which aspects of the text were well written. Giving recognition for good skills will give the writer encouragement to keep doing the right things with their writing. Secondly, I give quality and accurate correction with clear explanations, so the writer can see what may need to be changed and why it will be more naturally English to make the changes. Thirdly, I provide the writer with examples and ideas to improve their writing in a kind and gentle manner, so they will not have hurt feelings or become discouraged in their writing, but rather be uplifted and keen to improve and grow in their understanding and knowledge of the English language. This means both simple natural alternatives and complex expressions with idiomatic sayings can be requested. Every writer is very special to me, and every piece of writing will be treated with the respect and accurate care it deserves to have. I have been helping many students, both young people still in schools as a teacher and more mature adult students at the university for over 40 years. My knowledge of accuracy in business letters and correspondence is excellent, as I have also worked in accounting for manufacturing businesses with a strong customer focus. I believe in building trust and respect between us, so I can help you to reach your full potential and achieve your best.

It is a excellent advice for me. I appreciate your pointing out to my mistakes and advice. They stimulate me work harder to write essay. By reading your advice, I can learn many things and review my mistakes. I think how to explain speaking and writing in English, it is different from literal translation in Japanese. That's why I need to get to used to using it by writing English continually. I will keep up everything. Best Regard, Aik

Thank you for the correction. You gave me great tips. I can study natural expressions a lot from just 121 words I submit. You told me that my english is easy to understand, which is really relief. However,as you see, it is not natural, so I will need to practice writing! Your advices were so helpful to review my sentences. I wish I can learn from you agai. Best wishes, Morinarika

Dear. Joyce Thank you for guiding me how to structure of writing this time. Your commentary were a concise and easy-to-understand. I was able to learn the following things, *As it is a hypothetical "if I could" type of topic, the 'would be" verb tense is the best one to use in all sentences. *Use "etc." when not using 'include, for example or such as." If there is a chance, please correct my writing. Best regards Hikki(momotea)

Hello teacher Joyce, Thank you for your helpful correction. Thanks to your checking up about Kobe meat, my sentences are well covered based on the information! It was impressive work and I too learned from you. I heard of the cattle beer and sake massage for Kobe meat. In Japan, there even is a song of Kobe cattles with the beer and massage. So I asked if it was true to the manager, who gave me a lot of knowledge about Kobe meat in the restaurant which was proud of only serving "champion Kobe cattles", the highest rank Kobe meat. According to him, the beer and the massage are actually done to raise "Matsuzaka" meat, other famous brand beef in Japan, not to Kobe meat. These treats are not major, but there surely exists some provider to do it... amazing :0 "but", he says, this kind of care makes the meat a little too much tender and fatty. I forgot writing a story in the restaurant! I'd like to entry soon, when you are available :D moet

Thank you teacher Joyce, I am pleased that there were not any mistakes in my sentences, but I found your alternative describing what I wanted to say more naturally. I like "workmate" more than "colleague", it feels friendly. "pass over the rainbow bridge" is thoughtful and beautiful when I don't want to use the direct word. "grief", "empathize"... they are the words I didn't come up with, althought I know... I hope that now they have been activated in my vocabulary. I learned "cope with", it sounds useful as the word I will use a lot :) Thank you again, moet

Hello teacher Joyce, I am spendng my summer holidays reviewing my old IDIY entries, writing down on a note the corrections and advices the teachers gave me. Some entries failed to let them know exactly what I wanted to say, and the installments look forlorn. Some entries are more lively than originals, given many good words. Thank you for your loving alternative today, too. "spot", "dear","guess what?", "expecting","glimpse","litter of kitten","human friends".. such many! :D I'll definitely use "furry feline friend" in conversation with my friends :) "Firework" is really unforgettable idea. with many thanks and respect moet
