Announcements
Hello everyone! I hope that you are all well. I am currently available for requests. I try to complete most requests in two or three days, but please note that I currently have my deadline set to four days as I may be busy over the next few weeks. Best wishes for the New Year! Roddy
Hobbies/Travel
I have many hobbies! I enjoy photography, reading and writing, watching movies, and playing games. I love music of all kinds, and I play the drums in a rock band and a reggae band. I like animals, too; I live with a dog, a cat, some chickens and some fish. I don't really have a favourite country because I think that every country has its own unique and interesting points, but I lived in Japan for five years and I think of it as my 'second home'. Apart from Japan, I have also visited France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Spain and the USA (the West Coast, at least).
Message from the instructor
Hello! My name is Roddy, and I am an English teacher from the United Kingdom (UK). I studied English and Philosophy at university, and I have also completed the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA). I lived in Japan for five years, where I worked as an assistant language teacher (ALT). Usually, I taught at junior and senior high school but sometimes also at elementary school and at a private school (where I mostly taught adults). One of my main jobs as an ALT was correcting students' work, so I have plenty of experience doing text correction with all levels of English ability. When correcting text, I check for spelling and grammar accuracy, of course, but I also carefully consider the tone and purpose of the text (such as whether it is formal or casual, for example). I am happy to look at any kind and length of composition and, although my native tongue for text correction is British English, I am also very happy to work with many different kinds of English, including American and Australian English. I try to always be warm, positive and encouraging, I welcome any questions that you have, and I am very much looking forward to reading your compositions and helping you to improve your work!

I read a topic about Scotland’s traditional dress when I was a elementary school. I think this culture is really unique, I want to see it someday.

Dear Mr Roddy, I am moved by your kind and thoughtful feedback! Thank you very much!! I am trying to read novels written in English lately. After reading your advice on essential and non-essential defining clauses, not only I learned how to use them, but the questions I had when reading novels were also resolved. Thank you very much again for your warm encouragement. Please take care, and have a lovely week!

I’m glad to hear that you know a lot about Japanese animation. I’m a big fan of ‘Cowboy Bebop’ too, and I love its last scene of episode 14’Bohemian Rhapsody’. Thank you for your work.

Thank you as always. I should have checked my spelling "solid". This topic was challenging to organize my thoughts. Thank you for your help. It's fun to know the situations of people who live in other countries. How interesting! My cousin lived in the U.K. for several years, and she realized that Japanese men were unreliable for her because her views had changed a lot.
