Announcements
Hello everyone! I hope that you are all well. I am currently available for requests. I try to complete most requests in two or three days, but please note that I currently have my deadline set to four days as I may be busy over the next few weeks. Best wishes for the New Year! Roddy
Hobbies/Travel
I have many hobbies! I enjoy photography, reading and writing, watching movies, and playing games. I love music of all kinds, and I play the drums in a rock band and a reggae band. I like animals, too; I live with a dog, a cat, some chickens and some fish. I don't really have a favourite country because I think that every country has its own unique and interesting points, but I lived in Japan for five years and I think of it as my 'second home'. Apart from Japan, I have also visited France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Spain and the USA (the West Coast, at least).
Message from the instructor
Hello! My name is Roddy, and I am an English teacher from the United Kingdom (UK). I studied English and Philosophy at university, and I have also completed the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA). I lived in Japan for five years, where I worked as an assistant language teacher (ALT). Usually, I taught at junior and senior high school but sometimes also at elementary school and at a private school (where I mostly taught adults). One of my main jobs as an ALT was correcting students' work, so I have plenty of experience doing text correction with all levels of English ability. When correcting text, I check for spelling and grammar accuracy, of course, but I also carefully consider the tone and purpose of the text (such as whether it is formal or casual, for example). I am happy to look at any kind and length of composition and, although my native tongue for text correction is British English, I am also very happy to work with many different kinds of English, including American and Australian English. I try to always be warm, positive and encouraging, I welcome any questions that you have, and I am very much looking forward to reading your compositions and helping you to improve your work!

During the pandemic I don’t have to work hard, and I am losing my weight by exercise and dietary restrictions. Therefore, I would possibly be like a super model a few years

In Japan, its difficult to get the Nintendo Switch too. Everybody wants it during the pandemic. Especially, I have never seen people could buy PS5. It’s always sold-out.

Thank you always for your correction. Since I'm a PhD student and I need to write articles, your explanation regarding phrasal verb, prepositional phrase and what are the best in formal writing, those things are absolutely helpful. Looking forward to asking you again. Have a great week for us.

Dear Roddy, Thank you very much for your helpful and thoughtful feedback! I do appreciate it! I wanted to express "standards". It is always very difficult for me to find out right expressions, your phrases and suggestions are a great help for me! Oh, what a helpful piece of advice you gave me about "previous", "preceding", and "former"! I do understand the complexity of these words, but I was able to feel their nuances because of your detailed explanations. Have a lovely day!
