Announcements
Hello everyone! I hope that you are all well. I am currently available for requests. I try to complete most requests in two or three days, but please note that I currently have my deadline set to four days as I may be busy over the next few weeks. Best wishes for the New Year! Roddy
Hobbies/Travel
I have many hobbies! I enjoy photography, reading and writing, watching movies, and playing games. I love music of all kinds, and I play the drums in a rock band and a reggae band. I like animals, too; I live with a dog, a cat, some chickens and some fish. I don't really have a favourite country because I think that every country has its own unique and interesting points, but I lived in Japan for five years and I think of it as my 'second home'. Apart from Japan, I have also visited France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Spain and the USA (the West Coast, at least).
Message from the instructor
Hello! My name is Roddy, and I am an English teacher from the United Kingdom (UK). I studied English and Philosophy at university, and I have also completed the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA). I lived in Japan for five years, where I worked as an assistant language teacher (ALT). Usually, I taught at junior and senior high school but sometimes also at elementary school and at a private school (where I mostly taught adults). One of my main jobs as an ALT was correcting students' work, so I have plenty of experience doing text correction with all levels of English ability. When correcting text, I check for spelling and grammar accuracy, of course, but I also carefully consider the tone and purpose of the text (such as whether it is formal or casual, for example). I am happy to look at any kind and length of composition and, although my native tongue for text correction is British English, I am also very happy to work with many different kinds of English, including American and Australian English. I try to always be warm, positive and encouraging, I welcome any questions that you have, and I am very much looking forward to reading your compositions and helping you to improve your work!

Thank you so much for your corrections and suggestions. I've learned a lot. I've learned some words differences between spoken English and writing English and better word choices. Yes, I forgot to write "do not" on my sentence 2! Thank you!

Thank you for watching my sentence. Your routine is also great. My English is still a long way to go, but I'm going to keep writing English. I'm also looking forward to sending my sentence again.

I can understand your opinion well. Thanks to my dog, I became an animal lover. However, losing her was like a nightmare, and I can’t still forget the moment. The experience was traumatic, so I won’t have pets.

I agree with your opinion. We should not change things about our past.

Thank you for your corrections and detailed explanations that always answer my questions, which is amazing! We do not have charity shops and that is one of things I think we need in Japan. I am a nurse specialized in palliative care (or hospice) and have been involved in research. When I went to the UK 15 years ago, I was impressed by that and I get interested in how this culture had been developed. I hope we can create something similar in Japan. Have a good weekend!

Dear Roddy, Thank you for your feedback and your message! I'll read your detailed grammar explanations repeatedly and I'd like to review the pages of parentheticals in my grammar book for my future writing. Thank you for sharing an episode about your friend in your friendly and encouraging feedback! For the last one month, my French practice was rather neglected because I was into practicing English with IDIY...! Thank you again, and have a wonderful autumn. Kind regards,
