Message from instructor: I have lived in nine different countries around the world and have travelled extensively. I have over 35 years experience of teaching English to all ages as well as all levels (beginners to advanced) in both educational and corporate settings. My background is in testing English and I have written and developed various global tests such as a placement test for young learners for the British Council and Tests of English for Seafarers, Offshore workers and also Cruise Ship staff for major shipping companies. I have also co-authored an English E-learning course for Engineers (basic level) and carried out proof reading and editing work for Maritime training organisations. I'm a fully qualified careers guidance counsellor and currently provide young people with guidance and motivational life coaching support.
Hobbies / favorite countries / countries visited: I enjoy travelling, particularly to places off the beaten track and I’m also passionate about arts and crafts and helping to support local artists, particularly in developing countries. I'm really interested in knitting and embroidery including sashiko. I am a keen gardener and also enjoy leisure activities such as hiking and swimming. I've always been interested in photography and I enjoy taking photos of the lovely places I visit. This photo was taken on New Year's Eve in Scotland when there was an amazing sunset. I like football and I support Burnley. My team is the smallest club in the Premier League and I regularly go to the matches.
Approach to corrections: Hi there! I'm here to support you in your English language learning journey. I have a background in teaching, assessment and test development and so will have a clear understanding of your individual, English language level and ability. My aim is to help you write effectively and naturally - either if you are a beginner, writing for pleasure or practising for an exam. My correction style is thorough and detailed, but don't worry I'll make sure that my explanations are clear and straightforward.
