Certifications
I hold a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from King's College, London. This is recognised as one of the world's top 50 universities. The course involves an in-depth study of all of the key things involved in helping foreign people to learn all aspects of English - including the four skills, speaking, writing, reading and listening. I also hold a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) certificate. This is a practical teaching qualification in which your teaching to classes is assessed by the world-renowned University of Cambridge. I am experienced in the following areas: Exam preparation (IELTS, FCE, CAE, CPE AND TOEFL), Business English (for example CV composition, cover letters, report writing, presentation delivery), the promotion of conversational fluency and teaching academic writing. Please note: IDIY do not permit tutors to provide "scores," for written exam compositions i.e. IELTS etc. So please do not request this service via IDIY.
Announcements
I usually work with teenage or adult students. I have particular exprience in helping people with exam preparation, such as for the IELTS exam, or the Cambridge exams. I am a keen writer myself, and am familiar with all common formats and styles of writing in English.
Hobbies/Travel
I am a big sports fan. I especially enjoy cricket, which is our national summer sport here in the UK. I also enjoy football, American Football and tennis. I am also interested in history, politics and the theatre (In England a theatre is where plays are staged, it's not somewhere where films are shown, as it is in the United States!). I also like cooking. My favourite country is probably Portugal. I like it so much that I decided to start learning the language from scratch! (the expression "from scratch," means from nothing/zero i.e. learning right from the start - I knew nothing before I started to learn it!). I have visited many countries, including Canada, the United States, New Zealand, the Phillipines and most countries in Europe. I have yet to visit Japan, but I would love to, one day!
Message from the instructor
Unless you ask me not to, then I will usually correct all of your mistakes for you. IDIY generally wants us to do this. So, it's important that you advise me if you want only the most serious errors corrected. In English teaching, when we talk about "serious errors," what we mean is errors that would stop another person from understanding you. Below is an example of an error that wouldn't stop somebody understanding you, and one that might! "I have visited France last year." (This sentence is not grammatically correct, as it should say, simply "I visited France last year," however everybody would understand what you meant to say) This is *not* a serious error in terms of communication. "I visited France next year." (Here, the reader won't know whether you intended to say "I will visit France next year," or "I visited France last year," - this is what we would think of as a serious error because your meaning is not clear - did you go last year? Or will you go next year?

Thank you so much for your corrections and explanations! According to the 1st sentence, I learned that we always say "the weather forecast." It's interesting! According to the 2nd sentence, I learned when to use the phrasal verb "give up." I will use it correctly in my future diary entries. Best regards.
