Teacher SaraRoseNY Thank you for corrections that are useful to me. As for false charge is still a real threat, coerced confessions frequently occur in Japan even now. The police needs criminals even wrong decisions to end incidents. At first I should mention about the Iwao Hakamata case. The serious issues are not only falsification of confession by the police but the authority also invented evidence which was bloody underwear. The police had not found any evidence to certify his crime for 14 months since the beginning of the incident. At the time when it passed 14 months, officers claimed finding bloody underwear in a tank. The evidence photographs showed the blood color was fresh red. For a while, as I consider the fact, it did not make sense. If blood was left for such a long time in a tank, the blood color must be like black purple due to oxidation of iron in red blood cells. Nevertheless, judges decided it was decisive evidence and concluded his guilty. It is because, due to tortuous interrogation for 21 days, Mr. Iwao Hakamata was really exhausted and had nothing to consider. Then, he agreed with the falsified statement which became a coercive confession. After he was put in jail, he could have time to reconsider and seek help to his sister. After 1980, his sister started asking for a retrial. Since she knows him well and believes he never commit a crime. His sister and he patiently ask the Ministry of justice to hold a retrial again and again. The Ministry reluctantly accept their request on 2023 when it passed 67 years since his arrest. Although, in this year, a local court decided he was not guilty, his circumstance is still very tough because the prosecutors have the right to object the conclusion of the local court. When the special authority exercises their right, his case will be discussed again in a high court and conclusion may be decided in a few years. Now, Mr. Iwao Hakamata is 88 years old with dementia, and his sister is 91 years old. As he has no child, if his sister will pass away, who can continue his retrial. When he loses his guardian, his retrial will be stopped because accuser does not have ability to continue his retrial. The current conclusion is still fragile and uncertain whether of not he can recover his stigma. Second, the possible danger that happened at Mr. Iwao Hakamata is still common in Japan. People are not educated enough to seek help to lawyers and keep it in mind not to be involved in court cases. This condition can make innocent citizens in dangerous situations. For example, when man ride in a crowded train, someone may commit a molester. Since it is seriously crowded, victims may mistake who is perpetrators. Once the victims wrongly accuse him as a criminal, the police start interrogation. Then, officers may bring him to a police station and may hold him a week for endless repeated questions. The police advised him if he agreed with falsified statement, he can be released immediately with fines of $3000. Otherwise the police may hold him in a police station for a week. The officers are superficially kind to him until he strongly resist the false documents. When he refused the officers’ advice, he may be accused with arrest warranty and will be detained in a private cell for up to 21 days. Such false accusations are occasionally occurred in big cities like Tokyo and Osaka even now. The ministry of justice should improve current process to conclude incidents. In any case, suspects are given with the right to call lawyer and interrogation should be recorded to prevent the falsification by the police. Best regards, 5971mak

Teacher SaraRoseNY Thank you for corrections that are helpful to me. There is a common sense that the students, who have had international students who have had international education overseas, have difficulty getting along with Japanese students. Japanese students are instilled with a spirit of collective harmony by their families and teachers since their childhood. Insisting one’s own thoughts are not welcome because it may bother others. Japanese native children are persistently indoctrinated to practice self-repression and to do same behaviors as others do. Such disciplines resemble a kind of army training. Without acquiring such attitudes, residents frequently ignore the individuals who don’t follow the Japanese traditional custom. Therefore, it is necessary for the children who are educated abroad to enter special schools called as “international school” to learn the spirit of group harmony, continuous self-repression, and stop showing their opinions. As for the new Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, he is an honest, sincere, and patient person. However, in the Japanese politics, his character is not always welcome. He tried to debate controversial political issues regardless of negotiation in advance with partisan leaders. As a result, he unintentionally rebukes senior national lawmakers occasionally. Currently, the leader of the biggest faction in his political party dislikes the new Prime Minister. The partisan leader seems to interfere him even the leader belongs same political party as Mr. Ishiba. Mr. Ishiba is a reliable person but not good at making strategy and negotiation with other partisan leaders. As you may already know, yesterday, the new Prime minister mentioned to plan next general election in this month just after starting his cabinet. It is because he may have a lot of difficulty under his current circumstance due to retaliation by the biggest partisan of his political party. It is a mess and a waste of tax-payers’ money. Teacher SaraRoseNY Thank you for corrections that are helpful to me. Since we have a custom that regard putting aside some amount of money in bank account as a good deed, it frequently lead to large amount while people avoid spending money. Most companies also same practice even though they earn large profit by moving production factories overseas. It is said that the average income of employees was not elevated for the last two decades. Nevertheless, we face the price hike, resulting more mindful of saving daily spendings. Small amount of people may suceed increasing their income while having special skills. However, many people are still struggling to have enough income which cause declining number of children because educational cost for children becomes expensive. This economic stagnation of Japan economy is one of the important reason why parents are reluctant to starting their families. Under such circumstances, people are forced to enduring with moderate and low-priced products nowadays. Although there are more expensive versions of products and high-brand items are available, I think that the number of people who can purchase the luxury goods are small number. Best regards, 5971mak

Teacher SaraRoseNY Thank you for corrections that are helpful to me. As Japan is famous for fresh delicious seafood, it is common for shops and restaurants to hold live sashimi performances. Chefs entertain how fresh theye are, while chefs gradually cut fish to make fish excluciated on cutting board for around 10 minutes. Customers feel excited by wathing fish flouncing and believe that its tastes must be splended because they are just sloughtered in front of their eyes. Even though it is justifiable for customers to enjoy eating fresh seafood, the process of sloughter should be carried out in a way that causes as little suffering as possible. Best regards, 5971mak

Dear SaraRoseNY, Thank you for detailed correction and advice. I understood the importance of connecting two sentences to make them concise. The expressions, such as "have experience doing," "remain passive," and "monotonous" are new and helpful. I'm not good at making concise composition, but I'd like to practice more. I also appreciate your encouragement of my plan of welcoming guests. I will do my best at the event. Have a great weekend! Best regards, mkawa
