My interests are very much arts-based. I enjoy theatre and cinema - I have a particular interest in foreign-language films - and I like to visit art galleries and museums as often as I can. As a former illustrator, my main form of relaxation is drawing and painting. I read a lot, too, and although my bedtime reading is usually a contemporary novel, I'm also a keen newspaper reader - my ideal Sunday is being curled up in a comfortable arm chair with a pot of tea and a newspaper! Since I do some work as a tour guide in London, I'm very interested in the city's history and famous literary figures - Charles Dickens is a favourite!

I've lived in both Germany and France, and have travelled to several other countries in Europe. I think France is probably my favourite country, as I love both the language and the culture, its beautiful cities and country villages and its varied landscape. I haven't had the opportunity to visit Japan yet, but I certainly hope to do so one day!
添削へのこだわり・メッセージ
My approach to text correction is always thorough, and I aim to clarify the corrections I've made in a way that can be easily understood. Having worked as a TEFL teacher for many years, I have developed a view of tutoring that is both empathetic and compassionate. I am therefore adept in being able to give correction in a warm and encouraging manner. I want the writer whose work I am correcting to feel that I have helped them not only to improve their writing skills, but also to feel a greater confidence in writing in English.

    Dear Ms Sylvia

Thank you for your feedback and warm comments. You gave me a lot of encouragement!

Your corrections and comments were really helpful. Using a dash is difficult for me, but I understand why my sentence needed it when I read your clear explanations.

I am glad to hear that you think my writing has improved! Thank you for encouraging me to keep practicing. I would like to keep getting better.

    Best wishes

    Dear Ms Sylvia

Thank you very much for your feedback. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. Your explanations and suggestions were really helpful. I realised that I need to be more careful when I choose words. I learnt a lot from your sentences using different words and phrases from the ones I used to convey the idea. Also, thank you for the helpful advice you gave me. I will try to focus more on context, so a reader who has not seen the film can understand my writing.

Thank you again, and have a good day too!

    Dear Sylvia,

Thank you for checking my scripts!
I was surprised by your detailed correction.
All of them was helpful for me.
Especially, I like your suggestion, "put a stop to ...".
It is a convenient phrase that I will try to use it from now on!

I'm looking forward to let you correct my scripts, again!

    Best wishes,

    Dear Ms Sylvia

Thank you very much for correcting my sentences and answering my questions. Your kind and clear explanations were really helpful.

Also, thank you for your warm letter which gave me a lot of encouragement. It also inspired me so much! I hope to be able to write more interesting sentences so that readers can see brighter pictures in their minds when reading them.

I am going to continue to write about this film. I would like to ask you to read and correct another piece of my writing again soon.

In the meantime, please stay safe.
I hope you have a beautiful day.

    Dear Ms Sylvia

Thank you very much for teaching me thoroughly like the previous time. Your clear explanations and kind feedback were really helpful. Now I understand I should give my readers more information, and need to focus on the sequence of my sentences.

Your explanations about which word is formal and which one is informal, and which one is neutral, were also really helpful. I have never thought about that before.

Thank you for correcting my last sentence radically so the meaning become clear. I learned how to use dashes in a sentence.

Also, thank you for encouraging me to continue this synopsis exercise. I'll keep on trying to improve my English.

    Best wishes

Hello Sylvia, thank you for your careful and detailed correction. Punctuation is the point I've wanted to improve, and your evaluation this time was very helpful for that. I hope we will have a chance to meet again. Thanks a lot!
