Thank you very much.
Hello teacher Ellie_P, Thank you for your correction. Somehow I didn't read your message attached to the first correction. I have just read it and known that "marathon" confused you, and you considered two possiblities.. I am so sorry. I was thinking that the word "like" can express "marathon" as a metaphor, but now, I learned that only using "like" is not kind enough to readers. Yes... come to think about the meaning of " like", it can also indicate "such as". So, readers cannot be certain about the meaning. Your correction, "felt like" is much more clear. Thank you so much to teach this important thing! Many thanks, and have a great Sunday :) moet
I’ll read “Christy” some day! Thank you for telling me!!
Thank you for understanding my short essay! Your answer is very helpful for me.
Hi, Ellie! Thank you for your comments as always. When I see your original version, I always find the construction of each sentence, completely different from me. I am wondering whether I would learn to create the sentences in a more nativelike way some day... 76 euros for one-month-train pass is expensive, considering my commuter! I am looking forward to having your lesson soon! Best regards, Tinkle
Thanks for your explanation of the difference between 'relations' and 'relationships'. Like 'interpersonal relations' used in the question, I can use 'relations' when I add 'personal' and 'interpersonal' before 'relations', right? Those words, 'relations' and 'relationships', are similar, so I'll use them carefully from now on.
Thanks for your interesting idea about the Greeks. I wrote that "That fear may have remained in our DNA (corrected one)." but after reading your idea, I came to think like this. Generally speaking, children learn how to behave by watching their parents. If their parents go for the indirect way of communication, their children will do the same. The same goes for the Greeks. Maybe certain patterns of behavior are passed down to descendants. Anyway, this is a food for thought, thanks!
Thank you for correcting my essay. I could really learn a lot of new phrases. I really appreciate your advice about "using people", "the government of many countries" "the government around the glove". I will take care of them from next time. I will make an effort to write to improve my skill soon. Best Regard,
Hi Ellie, Thank you for answering respectfully to my question. I understood much better than before. Thanks! Have a nice weekend. Best, Patty
Dear teacher Ellie-P Thank you for your great teaching! I’m always pleased with your alternative text. It gives me a lot tips how to make up compositions. I’m sorry for the news in Greece, I was terribly heartbreaked to hear it. I hope that everything will be fine in near future. Thank you and kind regards, Pasery
Thank you very much.
Thank you!
Hi Ellie, Thank you for the comment. I cut the financial perspective on the issue intentionally because I think I consider it is an issue with ambivalent feelings rather than very common money vs emotion political story. Here is a comment from a web news coverage; Iwama Eiji(63), who has lost a classmate in that building, said, "It seems better to preserve it to keep the tsunami scare in people's mind, but I also feel like I want to forget it."
I have to keep working on how to use "article." I've been learning English for a long time, but I still have the trouble. I like your sample sentences, such as "My work does me a lot of good." I knew the phrase, "do someone good," but I didn't know in what situation I could use it. Thank you!
In Japan, people have to wait for 6 month after their publication and then borrow them free of charge at libraries. People who want to read asap will buy ones, others who can wait for 6 months will borrow books afterward. Within 50 words, I cannot explain the current situation surrounding publishing companies. The situation surrounding newspaper companies are the same. They cannot sell papers well, because people shift from printed ones to the website to get information. Quite honestly, it is much easier, faster and cheaper to get information than printed newspapers.
