Hello everyone! I hope that you are all well. I am currently available for requests. I try to complete most requests in two or three days, but please note that I currently have my deadline set to four days as I may be busy over the next few weeks. Best wishes for the New Year! Roddy
趣味・好きな国・訪問した国
I have many hobbies! I enjoy photography, reading and writing, watching movies, and playing games. I love music of all kinds, and I play the drums in a rock band and a reggae band. I like animals, too; I live with a dog, a cat, some chickens and some fish. I don't really have a favourite country because I think that every country has its own unique and interesting points, but I lived in Japan for five years and I think of it as my 'second home'. Apart from Japan, I have also visited France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Spain and the USA (the West Coast, at least).

Hello! My name is Roddy, and I am an English teacher from the United Kingdom (UK). I studied English and Philosophy at university, and I have also completed the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA). I lived in Japan for five years, where I worked as an assistant language teacher (ALT). Usually, I taught at junior and senior high school but sometimes also at elementary school and at a private school (where I mostly taught adults). One of my main jobs as an ALT was correcting students' work, so I have plenty of experience doing text correction with all levels of English ability. When correcting text, I check for spelling and grammar accuracy, of course, but I also carefully consider the tone and purpose of the text (such as whether it is formal or casual, for example). I am happy to look at any kind and length of composition and, although my native tongue for text correction is British English, I am also very happy to work with many different kinds of English, including American and Australian English. I try to always be warm, positive and encouraging, I welcome any questions that you have, and I am very much looking forward to reading your compositions and helping you to improve your work!

Thank you so much for your advises. Your advices were very clear and understandable. Especially, how to use "enough" and "these/those" were an eye opener for me. I want you to check my work again. Thank you!

Thank you for corrections and alternative expressions! I need to study more about the countable and uncountable form of Technology in order to use them correctly.

Hi Roddy, Thank you for reviewing my composition. I’m particularly interested in the explanation of “based in” in sentence 2, and I appreciate the difference between “with glass sides” and “has glass sides” in sentence 5! What’s more, your notes help me know more natural phrases and these ones are what I wanted to know! I’m looking forward to asking you to check my next compositions again soon!
 Best regards, Kohei

Hi Roddy, Thank you for reviewing my writing and please don’t worry about keeping me waiting for your reply. I prioritize writing a composition in English every day rather than checking feedback from a tutor. So, feel free to reply when you have time! Travelling in India was very exotic because I felt the British legacy alive in India somehow. I think you should visit there some day. I've visited India twice, but I want to go there more and more! As the message along with my new composition that I handed in a few hours ago, I sent you my #5 and #6 diary entries in the wrong order. I think when you read the composition that I sent you the last time, you will know who “she” is in sentence 2. I appreciate your alternatives for some words that I awkwardly used in my sentence because I want to prioritize sounding natural than writing grammatically right. I’m looking forward to receiving your next feedback for my latest composition. Best regards, Kohei

I have many friends who don’t cook by themselves, so I can understand your situation. I don’t think you must cook by yourself because food that is convenient makes more time.

Hello Roddy, Thank you for your feedback and lots of alternatives!! I especially appreciate the explanation and alternatives using BACKGROUND. It makes my understanding of the word and the way to use it very clear! What’s more, I feel your alternative expressions are not something that you wing. The ones are written in various approaches, so I’m always noticed how writing is deep and fun! Today, I learned about the differences between HOLD ONTO something vs HOLD ON. I remember CHECK INTO something vs CHECK IN that you told me before! These concepts helped me understand the nuance of the phrasal verbs. In this case, Can I say like these below? ・I checked into my accommodation. ・I checked in at my accommodation. I try to use UNTIL in my writings to get used to it! I look forward to showing my other writings to you. Have a great one! Best wishes, Kohei

Hello Roddy, Thank you for reviewing my composition and telling me lots of alternatives. Sorry for the late reply to your feedback because I prioritize writing new compositions. I feel I’m using almost similar sentence structures and phrases, so I’m happy with your substitutions. Besides, I especially appreciate the difference between “Check in” vs “Check into”, “TO LOCATE the taxi stand at the airport” and the explanation of “subordinate clause”, and so on! I’m looking forward to reading your other feedbacks from you! Have a great one! Best wishes, Kohei
