That said, it is difficult to completely relax in Japan, as there is a high probability that major earthquakes such as the Nankai Trough earthquake or a Tokyo metropolitan earthquake will occur within the next 30 years. While many buildings in Japan are designed to be highly earthquake-resistant due to our geography, earthquakes are extremely difficult to predict and can lead to devastating secondary disasters such as tsunamis and fires. Damage to transportation networks can also make recovery a long and challenging process. Facing these realities, I often feel that humanity still has much room to evolve and improve its preparedness for natural disasters. In any case, I was relieved to hear that there were no fatalities in this recent earthquake. By the way, regarding the scenery shown in the photograph, I would love to visit a place like that at least once. While I imagine there may be similar landscapes within Japan if one looks carefully, visiting such a place abroad and seeing it as part of a trip would also be a wonderful experience.
