Whether it is Dr. Seuss who said, 'the more things you will know. The more that you learn, The more places you'll go." or George R.R. Martin "A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.”, it is undoubtedly reading that offers me liberation from the limitations of the day and hour. I can not say that reading is my hobby, for a hobby is something one does to relax when one has the time - it is a game, a sport, it is to binge watch a series in comfortable socks, wrapped in a warm blanket on a soft sofa with calorific snacks. No!, to me reading is a need, it is a substance that I cannot live without. It is the defining difference between living and existing. Other than to devour each page with the ferocity of a Greco-Roman monster, I then feel compelled to immerse myself (as far as possible) in the appealing traits of the characters I engage, music or food, a dance or memory, even helplessly indulging in their thoughts and feelings. So, dear reader it is safe to say that, 'I love reading.'.
