Hobbies/Travel
My interests are very much arts-based. I enjoy theatre and cinema - I have a particular interest in foreign-language films - and I like to visit art galleries and museums as often as I can. As a former illustrator, my main form of relaxation is drawing and painting. I read a lot too, and although my bedtime reading is usually a contemporary novel, I'm also a keen newspaper reader - my ideal Sunday is being curled up in a comfortable arm chair with a pot of tea and a newspaper! Since I used to do some work as a tour guide in London, I remain very interested in the city's history and famous literary figures - Charles Dickens is a favourite! I've lived in both Germany and France, and have travelled to several other countries in Europe. I think France is probably my favourite country, as I love both the language and the culture, its beautiful cities and country villages and its varied landscape. I haven't had the opportunity to visit Japan yet, but I certainly hope to do so one day!
Message from the instructor
My approach to text correction is always thorough, and I aim to clarify the corrections I've made in a way that can be easily understood. Having worked as a TEFL teacher for many years, I have developed a view of tutoring that is both empathetic and compassionate. I am therefore adept in being able to give correction in a warm and encouraging manner. I want the writer whose work I am correcting to feel that I have helped them not only to improve their writing skills, but also to feel a greater confidence in writing in English.

Dear Sylvia, Thank you very much for your really helpful feedback as always! I learned a lot of ideas about how to make my writing more natural, especially your suggestions of discourse markers were so helpful. They are very context-dependent, and it's very difficult for me to find one that is suitable. Tres bon weekend, et prends soin de toi :)
