I’ve spent the last few years teaching English, reviewing books, and writing my own, and somewhere along the way it all blended into something that feels like both work and home. The TEFL training helped, but most of what I’ve learned came from sitting with students, hearing their stories, and watching them find their way through a language that can feel endless at times. Each person shows up with their own history, their own rhythm, and I get to walk beside them for a little while. It’s simple, but it means a lot to me.
Announcements
My own path as a writer has shown me what storytelling and style can do. I’ve picked up things along the way, and I want to share them with you in a way that lifts your writing without forcing anything. Reading and reviewing books has taught me how many different ways a piece of writing can reach someone, and that perspective is something I bring into our work together.
Hobbies/Travel
When I’m not teaching, I’m usually buried in a book or sitting with my own words. Those two things feel like home to me, so I return to them whenever I can. I like moving my body too, whether I’m hitting the bag, running a few miles, shooting around, or trying to stay sharp over a chessboard. I try to nudge myself forward a bit each day. Nothing loud or flashy, just the small kind of progress that stacks quietly over time. Kaizen taught me that. It’s the idea that keeps me steady when I’m learning something new or pushing myself in training or trying to grow as a person.
Message from the instructor
Your success in English is what I'm here for. Helping people express themselves through words is not just my profession; it's my ikigai, my life's purpose. I want to understand what you need, what slows you down, and what you’re reaching for. From there, I can guide you in a way that feels personal, not generic, whether it’s your writing, your grammar, or just getting more comfortable using the language. We both care about learning. That’s why I’m here, not only to check your sentences, but to walk beside you while you keep getting better. If you’re working on essays, preparing for a test, or simply trying to enjoy writing more, I’m here for all of it. We’ll take each step as it comes and use every challenge as a chance to grow.

Dear MessageMentor, Thank you very much for your corrections and suggesting alternatives. I like your alternatives very much as it expresses exactly what I wanted to say. For example, instead of writing ,"Sakuradote was pretty primitive and had a nostalgic atmosphere," you sugggested, "Sakuradote had a rustic charm and a nostalgic atmosphere, evoking memories of simpler times." In your alternative, especially I admire the phrase, "evoking memories of simpler times." The phrase reminds me of the time that I was cycling along Sakuradote and what I thought at the time. You indicate me the way to write exactly what I thought related to the events I experienced at the time. It is my first time to think that way. It enables me to write in more expanded and extended way. That was the skill that I have wanted to obtain for a long time. I need to increase my vocabularies. I will try to develop my vocabularies and go on this practice. I appreciate your warm support. Best regards, atsuko5

Dear MessageMentor, Thank you very much for your corrections and suggesting alternatives. They are really helpful for me to develop my abilities to write naturally and effectively. Your advice, "Specificity makes your writing more engaging and relatable," leads me to be able to write as I hope. For example, instead of "study writing," you suggested me to write "pursue further studies in writing." I have been longing for writing like this. To write specifically like this, I need more vocabularies. I am trying to increase my vocabularies by reading novels, watching videos, and listening to the radio programs in English. It may take me a lot of time to be able to express my thought with the right words. However, I want to acquire good English and become a good writer. I will continue my efforts as I enjoy and cherish the path I am going. Best regards, atsuko5

Dear MessageMentor, Thank you for your detailed feedback! When I write sentences in Japanese, I pay attention to the order and rhythm of the sentences. It's still difficult to do that in English, but I'll keep working on it. I'm looking forward to your next class! Sincerely,
