Message from the instructor
My text correction will initially make corrections to grammar and spelling mistakes. There will also be focus on many other aspects of a text, for example achieving the required meaning with appropriate mood and nuance while respecting social and cultural aspects within the text. I will make comments on the use of phrases and expressions with regard to how appropriate they might be and give alternative suggestions. I have an honours degree in Modern Languages (English and French) and a TESOL post graduate teaching certificate with distinction. My style will, of course be helpful and friendly.

Hi,Moss, How are you doing? I'm happy to have you, too. I make the same mistakes many times, hyphenated words, thank you. "segregated from" is new word to me, meaning 'to separate one group of people from others, or to separate people into several groups' You explained the details of 'prefer'. It's interesting, but hardly find the details in dictionary. It's very useful information, thank you. When the huge earthquake hit Chile , you were there!! must be terrified! It was magnitude 8.8 and claimed many people's lives. The earthquake in my daughter-in-law's story wasn't big. Nobody died. But, she was panicked. Maybe, her maternal instinct told her to get away from the building. Actually, she could have stayed at the room. The next day she had heavy muscular pain on the legs. Now, it's a funny story in my family. See you next time Yoko

Hello Moss, I'm glad to know you are doing fine. Thank you for the corrections you made on my writing. I found the noun "seismologist" in a dictionary and used it. Of course, I didn't know the adjective "subterranean", and even such a word exists, thank you. You wrote me "The weather is warming up nicely here in the UK: it's nice to be out in the sunshine." in the message. The weather in Japan is quite different from the one in UK. This week, we have had very hot days, at some place, like Osaka and Kyoto, marked a record high temperature as of June. Thermometer of the taxi I took in Osaka read 39°c (102.2°f). Actually it's terrible to be out in the sunshine. I understood that the global warming is real. See you next time, Yoko

Hello, Moss, I'm glad to hear from you again. It's great that we both have been fine. Thank you for the corrections you made on my essay. I enjoy reading your sentences. You said " some of my changes are in the way we might naturally express ourselves", that's what I really want to know. Thank you. This time the topic is quite serious, and I was afraid of my opinion being sad and excessively negative. Anyway,, it's beautiful day, today, blue sky, nice weather, flower blooming, fresh greeneries. It's my favorite season in a year. We can find many many good things around us. See you next time, Yoko
