Announcements
Hello IDIY Customers, I am very pleased to be an instructor for IDIY and to be able to help you on your journey to improve your English! I am very thorough when it comes to proofreading and correction. My years as a teacher, whether for music or English as a foreign language (TEFL), has given me the skills to explain concepts very clearly and in a patient and compassionate manner. I know that I can be of great service to you with your English studies, and I look forward to "meeting" you and reading your work!
Hobbies/Travel
My earliest training was in the area of music, specifically classical music. I am a teacher, writer and performer with degrees in Pianoforte, Theory and Music Research. Throughout all those years I was teaching as well. Alongside my music studies in university was my study of languages: French, German, and Spanish. Thanks to my family background I was exposed very early in life at home to Polish and Russian as well. I do understand what it feels like to tackle a new language and constantly try to improve! My other great love is travelling. Again, thanks to my parents, I was lucky enough to travel from our home in Canada to visit family in Russia and Poland when I was still very young. Over the years I have been to quite a few places: I studied in the United Kingdom for a postgraduate degree and lived in the county of Surrey in the south west of England. I try to visit London every year. I taught English as a Foreign Language in the beautiful city of Prague for three years. Over the years I have also had short visits to Scotland, France, Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland. And my most recent trip was earlier this year for a travel writing course in the north of India. Magnificent! But I still feel that I have not seen enough of the world and am certainly planning to keep travelling!
Message from the instructor
Dear Customers, I look forward to working with you on your projects in English. I have much experience in writing articles, essays, and dissertations, so I know how challenging it is to put your thoughts together as well as paying strict attention to grammar, syntax, and keeping a high level of vocabulary! My own writing and experience with proofreading has taught me to be very patient and thorough when checking material. My method is to become very involved and concentrated and look at all the details of a composition. My correction style has grown out of my many years as a teacher, so any changes or adjustments I make to your work will be accompanied by very thorough and detailed explanations. I will try as much as possible to clarify all the changes I make, and accompany them with extra examples if appropriate, so that you will be able to use what you have learned in future writing--that is true progress! It would be a privilege to work with you and I look forward to helping with your English writing in any way that I can.

Dear CanadianFriend, Thanks so much for your corrections and their explanations. You remembered me that the distinction of "advice" and "advise". The former is noun and the latter is verb. I will pay attention to the usage of both words! Thanks again! Best regards, kazu10sumi

Hello Canadian Friend, Thanks for revising my essay. Your explanation was very helpful, especially the words "to draw person attention to something" and "take something seriously". I will keep going as well as so for. Thanks you so much, and I hope you would give me a lot of takeaways next time again. Best, Keigo

Dear CanadianFriend, Thank you. Your reflection for my essey is clear and easy to understand. I try to pay closer attention to "singular" and "plural". However, writing sentences in English is quite difficult for me, and I am easily overwhelmed. Kind regards, jin
