Hobbies/Travel
I would say that travelling and reading are my favourite hobbies. When I travel, I really like to engage with and immerse myself as much as possible into the culture of the places I visit. I think this love of other lands and the wonderful people that populate them stems from my childhood experiences of living in Sierra Leone and Egypt, not to mention all the countries my parents took me to on holiday and the places I have been for work and study purposes. I have a strong connection with France: my father lived in Strasbourg for a few years and I speak French quite well. As an adult, I have visited Turkey, Tunisia, India, Nepal, the United States and the United Arab Emirates, and many European countries. I am very excited about planning to visit Japan in the next couple of years!
Message from the instructor
I provide an advanced text correction service and I am very excited about proofreading your compositions in order to support your endeavours in improving your English writing skills. I will read your work diligently, carefully checking the grammar, lexis, spellings and punctuation you have used. Any corrections I make will be in line with your chosen correction style, be it “Drastic Change”, “Minimal Change” or “No Preference”. I will also check that your expressions sound natural and amend them accordingly if needed, unless you have chosen the “Minimal Change” option. I will also conform to the formality type of your composition. Where you have made no errors and your composition is perfect, I will offer you alternative words and/or expressions to broaden your knowledge. All my corrections will be explained to you in a way that will support your understanding and learning. I have over five years of teaching English to speakers of other languages, along with proofreading work. As a learner of foreign languages, myself, I can understand the difficulties – as well as the pleasures – of language learning. Therefore, this combination of being a language teacher and a language learner puts me in an excellent position to explain to you how the English language functions. My teaching/instruction style is patient, encouraging and positive. It is my intention to play a part in your English language learning that motivates you and contributes to your enjoyment of learning.

Thank you for correcting my essay and giving me very detailed explanations. I realized that I should have been more careful not to make some errors. It is difficult for me to tell what words are more formal and what are less, so your suggestions have been really useful!

I really apologize for the late reply. I’m so grateful for your excellent suggestions and detailed explanations. Just like in the UK, in Japan we have to go to the bank where we hold an account in order to withdraw our money in new banknotes or to exchange money into different denominations. Therefore, I should use “the bank”, not “a bank”. Also, that service is available only on weekdays. My wife works on weekdays. I work on weekdays too, but I work from home and the working hours are flexible: that was why I went to the bank in her place. I’ve learned a lot! I’m looking forward to taking your lesson again.

Thank you for the corrections and answering my question! Your explanation really helps a lot! It is still extremely hard for me to understand the meaning 2! But this is something we don’t have in Japanese language so I just need to get used to it as it is. Thanks again for your help!

Dear sprett08, Thank you very much for your really helpful and thoughtful feedback and additional explanations!! I learned so many important and very useful expressions and rules from your detailed corrections. Please do not apologise, I can wait for much longer if that is the case. I really hope you and your family are well. This is indeed a very difficult time for us here in Japan too. I gradually see the cases around me.
