A few days ago, I had a chance to hear and see the sentence below in a American drama; "At a neighbor watch meeting the next night, residents voiced their concerns over the increasing danger their community faced. Bob Fisk warned those present that a unnamed government agency was listening in on the phone conversations." Yes! As you said, "present" was used with "those"! I was misunderstanding that " those" was a possessive and " present" was a noun. I knew that " those" is a pronoun and " present" is adjective! Also it was used in a formal situation as you said!! I see, thank you so much! It's my pleasure to know the little difference like this!
